Mount Burnett Observatory and Telescopes in Schools have come together again this year with Museum Victoria to put on another huge Astronomy and Light Festival for the Melbourne public at Scienceworks.
Once again our festival will be a celebration of all things Astronomy and Light. Our contributors and sponsors are keen to share their passion for the wonders of light with you. Plenty of fun and engaging activities for all ages.
The aim of the festival is to bring together professional, amateur and industry partners invested in Astronomy and Light. Talks, shows, panels, demonstrations, hands-on activities, a field of telescopes and much, much more will be available to make your evening one to remember.
Mount Burnett Observatory Inc(MBO) is the largest regional amateur astronomy society in Victoria, boasting over 200 members and a thriving outreach program. For the last two years MBO has held increasingly bigger astronomy events and this year’s promises to be the biggest yet.
Telescopes in Schools(TiS) is a secondary school astronomy program run out of the University of Melbourne’s School of Physics. The program has spent the last four years showing the night sky to thousands of secondary school students and now is excited about showing even more people the wonders of Science.
Scienceworks Museum has been opening its doors and the minds of the curious since 1992. It also hosts the Melbourne Planetarium and the Lightning Room in addition to it’s permanent and ever changing exhibits. Scienceworks has been a place of scientific exploration and wonder for all ages and we are looking forward to sharing some new experiences with you.
