The Ballarat Observatory has a 3D AstroTour for 3D astronomy movies as well as historical and modern telescopes for viewing the night sky almost every night of the week, weather permitting. You can always enjoy an evening of astronomy both outdoors and indoors with such a range of activities. They are also now showing Capturing the Cosmos the new Scienceworks/CAASTRO planetarium show in their theatre.
The Ballarat Observatory is also very committed to preserving our Dark Skies, as are all astronomical groups. So the Observatory will be teaming up with the members of the International Dark Skies Association (Victorian Branch) to set up an information stall on the Ground Floor just next to the Museum Shop.
The International Dark Skies Association aims to educate the public, councils and building industries on how to incorporate artificial lighting sustainably and responsibly as well as inform us WHY light pollution is not so great for us.
Judith Bailey, esteemed member of both groups will also be part of the Dark Skies Panel discussion on the CAASTRO Amphitheatre.
Visit these amazing people working so hard to preserve our beautiful skies and join in the panel discussion.
