Have you seen the exciting new experience at Scienceworks, Test Labs? This is the space for those older kids (10-15 years) to explore tech, to design and solve problems. They have already done bridge-building, lock design, 3D drawing, paper automatons and soooo much more. Held over the weekends, Thursday nights and a special school holiday program, Test Lab is worth checking out for big kids of all ages.
At the AstroLight festival you also have the opportunity to try out the Test Lab and make your own wearable LEDs. You will be the coolest kid in town wearing your flashing bracelet or badge. Bring along your mad design skills and connect your LEDs with conductive thread with our Test Lab techs.
We have three 45 min workshops running over the night, 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30PM. You will need to purchase an extra ticket for Test Lab and places are very restricted, so make sure you get your tickets early. Great for kids over 10, kids under 12 need to be assisted by an adult. The Test Lab can be found in the Exhibition room on the Ground Floor next to the Museum Shop.
While you are there, you may want to ask about LEDs and how they make light. Make sure you share your finished product with us on #astrolight16 #wearableLED. Can’t wait to see them!
