This year at AstroLight we will have a number of art installations that demonstrate the wonders and beauty of Science. Some of these will be interactive so you can immerse yourself in the light and astronomy. Others, will provide a visual display that you can just sit and admire.
One of the interactive installations we are very excited about is the StellarSphere created by ENESS, one of our fabulous Stellar sponsors;
The Stellarsphere is a living, breathing light bubble and the glowing beacon at the heart of the AstroLight festival.
A clear inflatable orb with a six metre diameter, it is studded with an array of custom LED disks that shine like stars inside and out.
Acting as a volumetric video screen, it provides mesmerizing 360 degree visual delights throughout the night!
Responding with light, sound and colour when approached and touched, this giant synthetic organism attempts to humanise LED-based public art and attract people to engage.
Situated as it is in the middle of the festival arena surrounded by stargazing telescopes, the Stellarsphere also encourages reflection on our own place in space and the role scientific endeavour plays in our understanding.
The stellar sphere itself was once thought to be the highest heaven in a geocentric model of the universe, with Earth at the centre of all celestial bodies.
ENESS mix art, technology and fun in interactive public art creations.
ENESS is a multimedia design studio that combines various disciplines including lighting, software, interaction design, product design, sculpture and architecture, with outcomes that are often unique and unexpected.

Come and interact with the amazing Stellarshpere in the centre of the Scienceworks Arena and create your own light display.
